#InMyBag: What’s Inside My Halloween Purse

?>

Ever wonder what's inside a this Halloween blogger's bag come October 1? Is it full of scraps of paper with blog post ideas scribbled on them? Or maybe it's packed to the gills with Reese's bats? (Now that I finally spotted them!)

All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween! This post contains affiliate links. See the end of this post and/or my disclaimer for more.

Well…I hate to disappoint you, but the answer is neither of those things. (Though the Reese’s bats idea sounds pretty great!)

In fact, my bag contains a lot of typical items you find in any purse…but I do have a few tricks and treats (literally!) tucked inside for my daily October travels.

And today, just for fun, I thought I’d share what I typically carry around with me!

But first…the bag.

Yes, I own one of the infamous Love Pain and Stitches bags, and to be honest…I still don’t know how. In late July 2017, I decided to finally go for it, set an alarm so I wouldn’t miss the sale…and then was off at the grocery store when 3 p.m. PST hit. Whoops!

I got home 45 minutes later, went to check the Etsy shop and by some stroke of fate…there were just two left – one was at my price point so I snagged it! It arrived the final Friday in September last year, just in time to spend Halloween season with me!

I felt like it was meant to be, so I’ve never tried for a second. (And, quite frankly, there are SO many people still wanting one, I’d feel guilty taking that opportunity away from them when I got mine by the most magical happenstance ever.)

If you’re still on the hunt, be sure to follow @lovepainandstitches on Instagram to stay up-to-date on sale news.

A pumpkin bag is pretty unique outside of the Halloween community, but I love making things my own so I added a few accessories to my purse:

First came the addition of a black bandana. I had started tying these onto my purses last summer, and I decided my LPS purse needed one too!

And then for good measure, I added Binx after I got him in my second Hocus Pocus mystery keychain pack from Spirit Halloween. I may not be a huge cat person, but I made an exception for one of my two favorite snarky black cats. (The other being Salem Saberhagen.) He definitely makes opening and closing my purse easier.

As for what’s inside my bag, it’s a bit of everything.

Treat Bags

If you’ve ever met me in person (like at Midsummer Scream!), you know I come bearing treats! I mean…what Halloween blogger worth her candy corn doesn’t have tricks and treats for her spooky friends?

I made these treats bags for a blog conference I attended in 2017, and they went over SO well…I kept making them!

iPhone & Quartz

When I saw this iPhone case on Society6, I fell in love. I used to get bored quickly with cases, but this gem has lasted at least 1 1/2 years. (And I plan to get a new one next time I update my phone.)

I also always carry a piece of quartz and, usually, rose quartz with me. This piece came from a booth at a craft show last fall (this one). I need a new rose quartz chunk. The gorgeous point my mom found for me broke at the start of the summer, which means I used up all its energy.

Interesting given rose quartz promotes self-love and it broke right around the time I decided to chop off my hair and go pink – something I was too scared to do for the longest time.

You can also just see a sliver of them, but I always carry sunglasses with me because my eyes are fairly sensitive to bright light.

Makeup Bag

The bag itself is a wristlet I bought from Verona Black earlier this summer. She doesn’t make this face anymore, but you can check out her other offerings here.

The pumpkin hand mirror was one of my must-haves from Dulce Calaveritas at Midsummer Scream. (It’s also featured on my 2018 Halloween wish list!)

I subscribe to a monthly lipstick bag (check it out here), so I always have WAY too many colors in my bag…and they’re usually all the same 3-4 shades. I love bright pinks. The Katy Kat Matte is a great drugstore buy, and my friend Dinah was kind enough to gift me this gorgeous liquid lipstick from Smashbox, where she works. (She creates all their badass videos!)

Business Cards

I only keep my treat bags on me in late September and October, but I have a handful of Spooky Little Halloween business cards with me wherever I go. I ordered these at the start of the summer and love the refreshed design!

Spirit Halloween coupon

I usually have a few 20% off coupons from Spirit Halloween tucked in my purse. (Learn where to find them in this post.) My friend and co-worker Emily showed up in my office door one morning bearing this gem, though! I’ve been holding onto it, trying to decide what to use it on. I kind of want this…or this…or this! Which would you pick?

Spooky Little Book Club read

And I usually have whatever we’re reading in the Spooky Little Book Club with me. Over the summer we read “Practical Magic“, and this Halloween season we’re enjoying “The Halloween Tree“!

What’s in your bag this October?

Whether it’s a purse, a tote or something else entirely, I’d love to hear the things you keep tucked away for Halloween season! Share them in the comments.

Happy haunting,
