October is here! And that means the Spooky Little Apartment is spookier than normal. I’ve transformed it from a semi-spooky home into a full-blown Halloween lair…and over the next few days, I’ll be giving you a tour.
Today we’re kicking things off with my kitchen, bathroom (yes, really) and hallway.
These are some of my favorite spaces to decorate because they’re areas you might not think of when getting ready for Halloween. I’m really excited that my entire bathroom is spooky now, but my favorite space is my Halloween coffee bar. It makes me smile every time I walk by it!

Kitchen
Pennant banners are one of my favorite ways to decorate for Halloween.
This year, I dug out my old McDonald’s Halloween Happy Meal pails and incorporated them into my decor.
This one stays out all year long – support Halloween 24/7, 365!
I scored this on clearance a few years ago – the drink glows in the dark.

As a bibliophile (book lover), I’m always hunting for spooky books. I love getting to incorporate them into my decor for Halloween!
These little figurines from Blossom Bucket are one of my favorite things to hunt for at fall craft shows. They’re always cute, inexpensive and easy to work into all my decor.
Normally, these contain quotes from “Gilmore Girls” that I created, but at Halloween…I make them a little more spooky! The black and white diagrams are a free download over here.
And the other two are printables I made for myself using a few of my favorite Halloween quotes.
These spider webs are driving me batty…but they sure look fun, right?
I decided to use a few of my new items to create a little Halloween vignette on my kitchen counter.
Resting a tray or flat signs against a wall in a cabinet overhang like this is a great way to display items in an unexpected way. I like the backdrop it provides! (And I managed to score it for just $4 over the summer while visiting friends in Oklahoma City.)
The bowl is from Target’s Dollar Spot, and the haunted haunt lace plate is from HomeGoods. Both were under $5!
My kitchen sink has always been one of my favorite spaces to make spooky. It hasn’t changed a ton since I moved into the Spooky Little Apartment because I love it so much!
I made this banner using a scrapbook paper book with tons of extra party supplies to cut out.
My color-changing skeleton lights add a nice glow over this space at night.
This tea towel was my first purchase of the Halloween 2017 season. I was it on Zulily and couldn’t resist it.
Coffee Bar
Now on to one of my favorite spaces in my entire apartment!

Can you believe that sign came from Dollar Tree? If you don’t shop at dollar stores for Halloween decor, you are missing out on some spook-tacular finds!

Oh, you don’t? Yeah, no…I don’t either…
Another little Blossom Bucket find.
Normally I am NOT one of those Halloween shoppers who has to run out and immediately buy something, but when I saw this Witches Coffee House sign from Ross on Instagram, I was out the next day to hunt for it. It was too perfect for my coffee-themed kitchen!
Usually, that mug tree is full of “Gilmore Girls” mugs. (Also if you’re laughing at my phone, you wouldn’t be the first. Everyone is so amused by it! It’s actually just the intercom system between apartments…and it doesn’t really work.)
Both of these were 99 Cents Only store finds! Seriously, you’re missing out if you don’t shop at dollar stores for Halloween.

Bathroom
Yes, even my bathroom is spooky! It’s transformed over the years (see it in 2015 and 2016), but this year is my favorite.
I just swap out some of my normal shelf decor with Halloweenies!
Found the perfect use for these skulls Hellen Die from The Necro Nomnomnomicon gave me!
I was in Ross one night, turned around and spotted these and had a total moment. I gasped. I beelined. I decided even though it wasn’t a purchase I was planning to make…I couldn’t live without them.
Betsey Johnson never does me wrong.
I love those towels, but my Halloween shower curtain is my favorite new feature in my bathroom! My sister-in-law and brother gave it to me for my birthday…in May.
And, of course, my spooky (tiny) sink! This space hasn’t changed much over the years because I love these lights framing my mirror.
Spooky flowers are a must in your bathroom.

I mean, seriously…how cool does that look? I love how my bathroom glows in October.
Hallway
Yes, even my little hallway got a spooky makeover this year! I went simply and only added spiderwebs to my signed lithographs from all the concerts I’ve gone to over the years, but it’s just enough to make it spooky and fun.
This guy glows in the dark…and is the only poster in the hall from a concert I didn’t actually attend.
