Halloween 2015 Home Tour: Living Room

I love decorating for Halloween. Pumpkins, skulls, bats, ghosts, lights, jack-o-lanterns…my list of loves is a mile long. My style of decorating is definitely a little creepy and spooky, but for the most part…I just love to douse my apartment in a healthy dose of black, orange and purple each year. No blood and guts for this girl.

Earlier this month, I shared my 9 favorite ways to decorate for Halloween – a list of the key items I use to make my home spooky and a little haunted. How that came to be was kind of an accident: my Halloween decor collection is a little out of control…as in at least seven plastic tubs and an assorted collection of cardboard boxes full of everything a Halloween lover could possibly want. (Most of which was bought in the name of my Halloween party.)

But when I moved into my apartment last year, it called for a massive re-evaluation of the entire collection. I ended up downsizing my home collection to my favorite things – the rest stays in storage, ready and waiting to be used at Halloweenie Roast. Someday I hope to have a home big enough to hold it all!

In the meantime…I fill my 700-square feet with all my favorites. Here’s a quick look at my living room.

(By the way, I’m not one of those girls who lives in a Pinterest-perfect space. I’m a real person living in a real apartment. My style is eclectic and cozy – or as one of my friends recently put it, groupie/hippie/granny cottage. I’ll gladly take that over white-washed walls that make it look like a museum any day.)

Welcome to my living room! It’s so wonderfully cozy already, and the Halloween decor makes it feel even cozier.

My coffee table might be my favorite part of the whole living room.

Meet Sir Clayton! He might be my BEST Halloween find ever. I bought him in 2012 for my Harry Potter themed party. He was supposed to be $80. I got him for $18. To this day, I still don’t know how. But he is a staple and welcomes my guest with a clever sign each year.
